2012 Veterans Day Edition: THANK YOU!

"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." Cynthia Ozik

Ways To Honor Veterans On Veterans Day

  • If you know a veteran or happen to meet one, simply say, "Thank you for your service."

  • If you have a friend who is a veteran, call him/her up and say thanks.

  • Attend one of many memorial services on Veterans Day.

  • Visit a military cemetery and say a prayer for those who served.
  • If you live near a VA medical facility, drop by and say hello. They'll appreciate your visiting them.

  • Attend one of many parades. Be happy. Be proud. Be thankful.

  • If you're a veteran wear something that designates your veteran status. Show the public you were proud to wear the uniform.
  • If you know a family whose love one is deployed, drop by and say hello.

  • Visit some of our senior veterans who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War.
  • Go online a post a message of thanks.
  • If you are an employer, consider hiring a veteran this week.

  • Ask a nearby school if you can tell a story about veterans.
  • Wear a poppy.

  • Don't forget our homeless veterans.
  • Many retailers and businesses are honoring veterans. They include, but are not limited to, Denny's, Hooters, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Red Lobster, TGIF, Applebee's, Golden Corral, Krispy Kreme, Outback, Olive Garden and many others. Many of these businesses are also offering free meals and/or appetizers to veterans.

"The willingness by which our young people are likely to serve in any war, not matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their Nation." George Washington
