Veterans Day 2013 Edition---Ways To Say Thank You

When our perils are past, shall our gratitude sleep?...Michel de Montaigne

Ways You Can Honor Our Veterans On Veterans Day

  • If you know a veteran or happen to meet one, simply say, "Thank you for your service."

  • Attend one of the many Veterans Day activities and parades this weekend and on Monday.

  • Visit a military cemetery and say a prayer for those who served and died fighting for this great nation.

  • If you happen to be near a VA facility, drop by and say hello. They'll appreciate it.

  • If you know the family of someone deployed, drop by and say hello.

  • Pay a visit to some of our senior veterans who served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

  • If you are an employer, consider hiring a veteran this week.

  • Don't forget our homeless veterans.
  • Many retailers and businesses will be honoring veterans this Monday by providing a variety of discounts. They include, but are not limited to, Applebees, Charlie Brown's Steakhouse, Chili's, Famous Dave's, Freindly's, Hooters, Olive Garden, Red Robin, Great Clips, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Walgreen's.

"The willingness by which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation." George Washington
