D-Day: Honoring The Greatest Generation

Today we commemorate D-Day, the June 6, 1944 landings in Normandy France (code named, Operation Neptune).



Some facts:

  • 156,000 allied troops from the United States, Canada, Free France, United Kingdom, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and Norway.
  • 5000 landing craft and ships.
  • 50,000 vehicles.
  • 11,000 aircraft.
