Afghanistan 10 Years Later


This week marks the 10 anniversary of our entering the war in Afghanistan. We must not only remember those who gave their lives in this war, but continue to support and remember those whose boots still remain on ground in Afghanistan.


Just as important, as our troops return from both Afghanistan and Iraq, we must not make the same mistake we made with our returning veterans from the Vietnam era. On this blog, we have a plethora of links to organizations that can assist our returning veterans. We urge you to share this information with them.

Last Draftee Bids Farewell

RIP Office Rudolph Speller


Officer Rudolph Speller, Public Safety Officer at Catholic University, died of an apparent heart attack while on foot patrol. He was the first Public Safety Officer fatality at the university.


Fire Chief Dies After Fighting Blaze


Elgin, SC, Volunteer Fire Chief, Dennis Cauthen, died of an apparent heart attack after fighting a house fire in Lancaster County. He operated a flooring store in Lancaster for almost two decades. Store manager Joe Brown said, "He ( Chief Cauthen) would drop anything he was doing. If he got a call on his radio. He was gone...He was first responder. He was at every call. It was something he knew he had to do and he did it." RIP Chief! (WISTV 10)
